Wow! Another long day at the office. I had one of my customers call me today to get an estimate on her move coming up. She had already been calling around and we were going through all the information about her move when I asked if she had any specialty items such as a big screen TV, Grandfather, Fish Tank, Or Piano. She said she had an upright piano and a few other items that were special to her. Well I went on to tell her how we were going to take care of those items and from there proceeded with the estimate for her move. At that point she told me that she had gotten a cheaper rate from all the other movers except for one and they were actually way higher than our rates were. I explained to her that the movers that were quoting lower rates, and that did not take the time to ask anything about her move, were low balling her or they were brokers. I told her that a company that is low balling you is actually baiting you with a lower rate to earn the business and then tacking on surprise charges at the end of your move for the Piano that they didn’t ask about in the first place. I also told her why brokers are bad.
